About Animal Rehabilitation Centre

Donaldson’s Vets……
Are proud to announce that our new rehabilitation centre is now open. This exciting new addition to our existing surgeries brings superb new facilities and veterinary expertise to pets and their owners in the north of England, offering access to our purpose-built wing, extensive range of state-of-the-art equipment, and dedicated and caring team.

Whether preparing for or recovering from surgery, suffering from painful and debilitating arthritis or other bone/joint problems, affected by neurological or spinal conditions, needing to lose weight or regain muscle condition and fitness, or simply have fun in our pool, we can help. We offer many invaluable additions to traditional surgical and medical care, such as hydrotherapy, ultrasound, acupuncture, massage, electrotherapy for pain relief and muscle maintenance (including TSE, TENS, and NMES,) Thermotherapy and advice and training on appropriate therapeutic exercise for your pet’s needs.

ARC Logo on ScrubsTreatment at the rehabilitation centre is by veterinary referral. Each patient is carefully examined and assessed by vet Rhona Warnock, and an individual treatment plan created to ensure optimal results. Rhona’s experience in rehabilitation started with the search to find treatment for her own young dog, diagnosed with hip dysplasia at a very young age, and has culminated in her studying to attain the American Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner qualifications and moving into full time work in this field. With all treatment carried out by Rhona and our qualified veterinary nurses, your pet is in safe hands.

ARC TreadmillOur extra-large underwater treadmill is a superb way of rehabilitating pets of all sizes. Exercise in the warm water supports the body and lightens the load on joints, while working the muscles effectively and functionally. Even the most nervous dog can be introduced to the benefits of hydrotherapy in this way under the care and attention of our professional staff, and pets are never endangered by the additional demands on their cardiovascular system with all sessions taking place under veterinary control. Our pool offers a great environment for dogs to build strength and fitness while having great fun!

For patients with chronic painful conditions, additional pain-relieving modalities can make an enormous difference, helping your pet to feel better and cope with daily life and bringing back the pet you used to know. Even the best canine athletes suffer setbacks in competition and training, and we could help your would-be champion back to winning form more quickly.
We are within very easy reach of the M62 at junction 24, with easy parking on site, and facilities for hospitalised and day patients as well as full standard veterinary care. If you would like to know more about our centre or how we could help your pet, then pick up the phone! Leave your details with our reception team on 01484 450022, and we’ll call you back to chat.
